ChipmunkOS

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how the ChipmunkOS project ("ChipmunkOS", "we", "us") handles information when you use the ChipmunkOS desktop application, its plugins, and this website.

ChipmunkOS is a desktop workspace that can connect to services you choose. We use connected data to provide the features and actions you request. We do not sell personal information or use Google user data for advertising.

2. Data we handle

Depending on how you configure and use ChipmunkOS, the application may handle:

  • Account and connection information: account email addresses, OAuth authorization grants, access tokens, refresh tokens, and the connection status of enabled integrations.
  • Workspace information: project names, local paths, project configuration, task or conversation history, and the output of tools you invoke.
  • Content you choose to process: prompts, files, document text, spreadsheet values, metadata, and instructions needed to complete a requested action.
  • Technical information: application version, operating system information, local diagnostics, and error details needed to operate and troubleshoot the application.
  • Website information: standard request information processed by Cloudflare when it delivers this website, such as IP address, browser information, request time, and security signals. This website does not use advertising cookies.

3. Google API data

The optional Knowledge integration connects ChipmunkOS to a Google account through Google's OAuth consent flow. ChipmunkOS may request the following permissions:

  • drive.readonly View and download Google Drive files so the integration can locate, read, export, and search content you ask it to use.
  • drive.file Create or modify Drive files that the integration creates or that you explicitly make available to it.
  • documents Read and update Google Docs when you request document operations.
  • spreadsheets Read and update Google Sheets when you request spreadsheet operations.

We use Google API data only to:

  • identify the Google account you connected;
  • let you select and configure a Drive location for a ChipmunkOS project;
  • list, find, read, and export files within the context you selected;
  • create, update, move to trash, or otherwise act on files only when you initiate or approve the corresponding operation;
  • maintain the authorization needed to provide these features until you disconnect the account.

Our handling of information received through Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements.

ChipmunkOS does not use Google user data to serve advertisements, build advertising profiles, determine creditworthiness, or sell data. Human access is limited to cases where you give explicit permission, it is required for security or support, or it is required by law.

4. AI providers

ChipmunkOS lets you configure AI providers. When you ask an assistant to work with connected content, the information needed to complete that request may be included in a request to the AI provider you selected. That provider processes the request under its own terms and privacy policy.

Do not connect sensitive content to a provider unless you have reviewed that provider's data practices and are authorized to process the content in that way.

5. Storage and retention

  • Google refresh tokens are stored through ChipmunkOS secret settings on your device. Short-lived access tokens may be kept temporarily in application memory.
  • Project configuration, task history, and tool results may remain in the local ChipmunkOS data directory until you remove them.
  • If you enable offline access in Google Drive for desktop, Google may keep synchronized file data on your device according to your Drive settings.
  • Content stored in Google Drive remains in Google Drive until you or an authorized user changes or deletes it.
  • Cloudflare may retain limited website security and delivery logs according to its service settings and legal obligations.

We retain information only for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes. You can remove a Google connection and local project data as described on our Data Deletion page.

6. When information is shared

Information may be processed by:

  • Google, to authenticate your account and provide Drive, Docs, and Sheets services;
  • the AI provider you configure, when a request requires that provider to process selected context;
  • Cloudflare, to deliver and protect this public website;
  • service operators or authorities, when reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, or establish legal claims.

We do not sell Google user data or disclose it to data brokers. We do not transfer it for personalized advertising.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including OAuth authorization, purpose-limited access, secret storage for credentials, and encrypted network transport. No system is completely secure, so you should protect your device, Google account, and AI provider credentials.

8. Your choices and rights

You can disconnect Google from ChipmunkOS, revoke ChipmunkOS access in your Google Account, remove local application data, and delete or change files in Google Drive subject to your permissions. Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal information.

9. Children

ChipmunkOS is intended for professional and general adult use. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as ChipmunkOS develops. We will publish the updated policy at this address and change the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the application or through another appropriate channel.
